We would also like to do a shorter study using the same scrapers to measure the dispersion in the M4/M5 Lines. It would be most efficient to do these two studies together, but the dispersion measurement could be separated if need be. The first study will involve data from the experiment and we will need a healthy Ring and DAQ. We would like to have the experiment do runs for 5 different central momentum slices in the Delivery Ring. The outer slices will likely have a lower number of stored muons, so I would like to have longer runs for these points. In addition to recording decay positrons and T0 values, we would request three additional numbers from the tracker team: The equilibrium horizontal position, The horizontal CBO amplitude and the horizontal CBO lifetime. I expect the study to take about 5-6 hours: 1 hour or less for the dispersion measurement, 1 hour each for the outer momentum slices and 45 minutes each for the three inner momentum slices (plus restarting runs, etc.). I think the experiment could still use the data from these runs as these slices of beam all normally contribute to stored muons by varying degrees. The counts will be very low during the dispersion measurement, but again these slices of beam normally reach the Ring. I'd prefer doing the studies during weekday day and/or evening shifts and we'll be ready to go early next week, whenever time is available. Thanks, Jim
